Hemodynamics of aortic valve atresia.

چکیده
Hemodynamic data on 12 infants with aortic valve atresia, ranging from 1 to 3 mo of age, are presented. Peripheral arterial oxygen saturations ranged from 19 to 93%. The lowest saturations were found in patients with closed foramen ovales. Increasing age, increasing pulmonary vascular resistance, and a decrease in the pulmonary-to-systemic blood flow ratio all correlated with decreasing systemic arterial oxygen saturation. In seven of the nine infants under 1 mo of age, systemic arterial saturations ranged from 81 to 93%. Thus, we feel that the classification of this lesion as a form of cyanotic congenital heart disease is misleading and prefer to classify aortic valve atresia as an obligatory admixture lesion. Criteria for selection of patients for surgery are discussed and the minimum amount of hemodynamic data needed for stuch selection is outlined.

Left atrioventricular valve atresia: clinical management.
Forty cases of left atrioventricular valve (LAV) atresia without aortic stenosis or atresia were reviewed. Thirty-one had mitral atresia and nine had left tricuspid atresia. Eleven had associated pulmonary outflow tract obstruction. Twenty-two (55%) underwent cardiac catheterization and 12 had more than one study. Left atrial pressure was normal in seven infants younger than 2 weeks of age. Twe...
متن کاملAortic atresia with normally developed left ventricle in a young adult.
Congenital aortic valve atresia is usually part of a developmental anomaly usually called 'hypoplastic left-heart syndrome'. To the best of our knowledge, most reported cases of aortic atresia have been associated with hypoplasia of the ascending aorta, of the left ventricle, and of the mitral valve. We report a patient presenting with aortic atresia with a ventricular septal defect and a norma...
متن کاملAbsent tricuspid valve with aortic atresia in mixed levocardia (atria situs solitus, L-loop). A hitherto undescribed entity.
Clinical, angiographic and pathologic features are described in a 36-hour-old male infant with mixed (discordant) levocardia, aortic valve atresia, absent tricuspid (left atrioventricular) valve and resultant massive cardiomegaly. This is the first reported case of this type of complex in a heart with discordant chambers. A possible embryologic explanation is offered for the concomitant presenc...
متن کاملAortic atresia with interrupted aortic arch: a combination incompatible with life?
Aortic valve atresia is a common feature of hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which consists of various degrees of underdevelopment of the left ventricle aorta complex; nevertheless it can also be associated with a large ventricular septal defect (VSD) and a rather developed left ventricle. Atresia of the aortic valve prevents antegrade blood flow from the left ventricle to the ascending aorta, ...

Repair of tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) has been performed since 19541 and adult survival is expected.2 Longterm problems include arrhythmias, both supraventricular and ventricular, and residual hemodynamic problems, which are generally well tolerated for many years; these include residual ventricular septal defect and pulmonary stenosis but, most commonly, pulmonary regurgitation, with its consequ...
